With the threat of higher education budget cuts on the way, Associated Student Government (ASG) will hold forums to discuss the effects that cuts will have for Mesa State students on April 1 and April 15.

The intent of the budget forums is to educate students on the effects that higher education budget cuts will have on tuition, student loans, and scholarship as well as discuss the long bill, the proposed Colorado budget for the upcoming fiscal year, and its effects on higher education.

“It’s important to discuss what lies ahead for freshmen, sophomores, juniors and even graduate students,” said Ryan Hendershot, ASG president.

According to ASG Vice President Nick Lopez, higher education is one budget item that is not protected from cuts by law and it is predicted that higher education will take the brunt of the expected cuts.

“A lot of students are struggling right now and it’s important for them to beware of the changes,” Lopez said. “ASG stands and will fight for higher education to remain affordable.”

The forums will take place in the Academic Classroom Building. There will be posters on the day of the event giving specific locations.
