From the combined efforts of KMSA, Criterion, and PAC, radio sensation Andy Grammer is coming to perform in the University Center ballroom.

Friday, Jan. 27, a concert including Grammer, Ryan Star and Rachel Platten will be held with no charge for CMU students and $10 a ticket for community members. Doors open at 7:45 p.m. Students on campus are excited for his arrival, including freshman Billy McBain.

“I actually recognize him from the radio,” McBain said. “He sings smooth, clean and cool.”

First known through his hit single, Keep Your Head Up, student Kolby Gimmeson and others relate to his music.

“He has a very calming John Mayer-like flow, but with a more upbeat and positive twist,” Gimmeson said.

Since the news of this show, buzz has spread quickly throughout campus and tickets are beginning to go fast. Many students have shown their amazement that the school is able to host a Top 40 artist.

In addition to the enthusiasm seen from students, organizers of the event are also psyched for the concert. Kyle Cooper, General Manager of KMSA, helped in the set up for the event.

“It’s not every day that these types of artists come to the University or even Grand Junction,” Cooper said. “The organizations that made it happen are excited and hope that everyone takes advantage of the close up experiences these types of shows offer.”
