Final farewell from design editor

Kindey.

Kindey is more than just a misspelling for the word kidney featured on the front of the Criterion in the fall of 2011. Kindey is a good example of how we are all just human and we all make mistakes.

I have worked for the Crite since 2009, starting as a lowly features designer designing one page of a six-page publication every week.  Since then, the Crite staff and I have made our fair share of mistakes, but from our mistakes this newspaper has grown into something special. For the past two and half years, I have been the paper’s design editor and production manager. It is now time for me to graduate and pass off the torch to another talented designer. Due to some communication issues where my job wasn’t budgeted for, I will be leaving in a less than ideal situation. However, I still have confidence that I will be leaving the paper in good hands. In just a few years, I have witnessed the growth of the Criterion and everyone working for it.  It is now a well-oiled machine pumping out as many as 14 pages of quality news every week.

I will be graduating with a bachelor’s degree in both Graphic Design-Print and Animation and hope to pursue my interest in design.  Whatever success I may have in the future, I must give some credit to my years with the Crite for helping me grow as both a designer and a person.
